ADHS STEM Academy Advisory Board

We NEED You as Part of the Advisory Board!

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with these committees:

  • Hospitality -- provide support (food and drinks) for STEM events, such as the Senior Celebration and STEM points celebration

  • Fundraising -- organize events with local restaurants (such as Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza, Moe's) where a portion of the sale goes to the STEM Advisory Board. Maintain and encourage folks to join loyalty programs (such as Harris Teeter VIC cards, Amazon Smile)

  • Outreach -- work with STEM Academy Director to identify possible business community opportunities and maintain a list of contacts.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, contact Advisory Board chair, Marie Dexter.

We meet the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. All parents of STEM Academy students and community business members interested in STEM are welcome to join us.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, Sept 14 at 6:30pm in the Athens Drive Community library.

What Is the STEM Advisory Board?

The Advisory Board is an association intended to support the Athens Drive Magnet High School Center for Medical Sciences and Global Health Initiatives STEM Energy and Sustainability Academy and help bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world. Specific goals of the Advisory Board include:

1. Develop an understanding and advance the programs of the Academy within the Wake County school system and the community.

2. Provide a volunteer base to support the Academy and assist in providing and soliciting financial support for the Academy’s programs.

3. Help build and enhance relationships between the Academy and the local related industries and community.
